IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore by a score of 21 runs to snap a losing streak

On Wednesday, April 26, Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 21 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to stop their four-match losing skid.Virat Kohli scored a fifty, his sixth half-century of the year, but the rest of his batsmen failed to provide the needed assistance as KKR held RCB to 179/8 in their respective 20 overs.

Earlier, Kohli won the toss and chose to bowl first. Looking to make it three wins in a row, Nitish Rana's team scored 200/5. However, KKR ensured that the hosts lost their penultimate game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium before they go out to play five matches on the road.

up with Narayan Jagadeesan, Jason Roy put up a crucial opening stand of 83 runs. The KKR openers were doing well until Vijaykumar Vyshak struck twice quickly to get rid of Roy for 56 runs off of 29 balls. Jagadeesan had already left the game after reaching 27 runs.

Venkatesh Iyer and captain Nitish Rana put up a stand; Iyer contributed 31 runs, while Rana hammered 48 off 21 balls with a scorching 228-run strike rate.

David Wiese's 12-run inning in three balls and Rinku Singh's undefeated 18-run inning helped put the final touches on KKR's total as they crossed the 200-run threshold with a last-ball six from Wiese.

In all of their previous games, Royal Challengers Bangalore made the most of their powerplay, but they were unable to capitalize on it against KKR, as Rana's team completed the double and earned their second victory against RCB this year.

Faf du Plessis struggled on the day, scoring only 17 runs, while Virat Kohli smashed 54 runs in just 37 balls. Mahipal Lomror's short cameo, which included a score of 34 off 18 balls, did raise some optimism among RCB supporters, but once he left, followed by Kohli's catch by Venkatesh Iyer in the deep, the game was drastically altered.

After Andre Russell took the wicket, the remainder of the RCB hitters just lacked the drive to get their team over the finish line, as they fell short by 21 runs.

Suyash Sharma and Russell each contributed two wickets, while Varun Chakravarthy shined with a three-wicket performance for only 27 runs.
