An ex-cricketer urges the PCB to maintain calm amid the World Cup venue controversy

The ICC’s publication of the World Cup 2023 schedule means that fans no longer have to wait in anticipation for the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan game. The venue is Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, and the event will take place on October 15. All of the city’s hotels are already reserved, even though there are still three and a half months before the event, and the general public can anticipate a mad rush once tickets go on sale.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-47054″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/www.theindiaprint.com-an-ex-cricketer-urges-the-pcb-to-maintain-calm-amid-the-world-cup-venue-controversy-download-68.jpg” alt=”” width=”1262″ height=”707″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/www.theindiaprint.com-an-ex-cricketer-urges-the-pcb-to-maintain-calm-amid-the-world-cup-venue-controversy-download-68.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/www.theindiaprint.com-an-ex-cricketer-urges-the-pcb-to-maintain-calm-amid-the-world-cup-venue-controversy-download-68-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1262px) 100vw, 1262px” />

The excitement for the blockbuster match may be somewhat dampened by news from over the border. After their request to move two of their matches from the original location was turned down, the Pakistan Cricket Board is back to complaining about the team’s participation in the World Cup. The PCB is now remaining silent and reportedly won’t comment until after conducting a comprehensive investigation of the venues.

Basit Ali, a former Pakistani cricketer, has begged the PCB to calm down and quit being so obsessed with not participating in the game. On his YouTube channel, the former batter mentioned a few benefits Pakistan will enjoy if they don’t get in the way too much and stick to the original timetable. Basit stressed that he has a good chance of getting the Pakistani government’s approval for the national squad to compete in this 50-over Cricket World Cup, which only happens once every four years.

“I’ve seen on news networks and YouTube that Pakistan could not want to play their matches in Ahmedabad and another location. Exactly why not? The World Cup schedule published by the ICC is a significant benefit for Pakistan. If 1,25,000 people show up to watch the game in Ahmedabad, India is under pressure, not Pakistan. Pressure would have been put on Pakistan if India had chosen to host the Asia Cup, he claimed.
