According to reports, the French international is dissatisfied with his right-back position and wants to leave Barcelona. According to a report from Diario Sport, Kounde begged Barcelona to release him because he wanted to play as a center-back. According to rumors, Inigo Martinez may go to the right side of Barcelona's defense upon signing as a free agent. Kounde's demand won't be easily granted, however, since he was unable to provide the Barcelona authorities with any additional offers.
Jules Kounde has so far played nine times as a center-back and 18 times as a right defender in La Liga. Barcelona paid Sevilla €50 million (£42 million/$50 million) in addition to a potential €10 million (£8.3 million/$10.2 million) in add-ons to get Kounde last summer.
