With Brighton's victory, Nottingham Forest moves out of the relegation zone in the Premier League

On Wednesday, Brazilian striker Danilo scored his first goal for Nottingham Forest to assist his team defeat European contender Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 in the Premier League, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

At the City Ground, Forest's Brennan Johnson missed an early penalty, and Brighton took the lead rightfully when 18-year-old Argentine Facundo Buonanotte scored his first Premier League goal.

But just before halftime, Forest caused Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross to throw the ball in his own goal, and Danilo took advantage of further shoddy play to give the home team the lead in the second half.

With a late third from another penalty kick, Morgan Gibbs-White helped Forest move up to 17th place with 30 points from 33 games, one place above the relegation zone, while Brighton remained in eighth place with 49 points from 30 games.

The triumph breaks an 11-game losing skid for the hosts, who had to withstand a barrage of pressure from their guests in the first half but came out on top thanks to three Brighton mistakes.

The south coast club may have been suffering from a hangover after their penalty shootout defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday since they lacked their customary finesse and missed multiple scoring chances in a below-par display.
